>>>>WoW Gold Team --->WoW Skills--->PvP Tips Summary <<<<

WoW Skills are grouped into several categories: professions, secondary skills, weapon skills, class skills, armor proficiencies, and languages. Your character's skills can be viewed on the skills tab of your character sheet. Professions are the major trade skills available to all classes, such as tailoring and mining. A character can only have two professions at any given time. Secondary skills, such as fishing and first aid, are also trade skills but have no restriction on how many can be learned. Weapon skills include all weapons that a character is able to use. Many weapon skills need to be learned, as your character only starts with a handful of skills he can learn. Class skills are determined by your character class (granted at character creation) and are an integral part of your character. Armor skills are known from character creation, or received from trainers or talents. Language skills are assigned at character creation and do not change.

>>1.PvP Realm Survival Tips~top

Understand the Region/Zone Types
On PvP realms, a given zone can be either friendly, contested, or enemy territory. Each zone type has its own rules governing PvP eligibility. If you're in a contested zone, you can be freely attacked by the enemy, and vice versa. If you're in a red (enemy) zone, they can attack you but you can't attack them unless and until they strike first. If you're in a green (friendly) zone, they can't attack you unless you attack them first or you are flagged for PvP.learn more about PvP zone rules.

Pay Attention~top
Surviving on a PvP realm requires constant vigilance. Look over your shoulder any time you're in a contested area. Know that your quest plans could change any moment because at any point, a battle with the enemy faction could occur. If you're not seeking this kind of tension, consider a normal (PvE) realm instead of PvP. It's not for everyone, but you'll find that most people that enjoy playing on a PvP realm love the exhilaration of never being safe. It takes patience, skill, and the willingness to keep up with PvP strategies. It might mean more reading and studying than playing on other realm types, but if you're reading this, chances are you're up for it.

Ganking
"Ganking" is the term used to describe getting killed by another player without having much of a chance to fight back or escape. This usually occurs in the context of being overpowered by several enemy players, by a player of a significantly higher level, or while in a vulnerable state such as being low on health or while fighting a monster. On your career in a PvP realm, ganking will be a common occurrence, particularly while leveling.

Adventure in Groups
It's a lot safer to adventure with a group when in contested areas. That way, if enemy players attack while your group is doing a quest, you'll have a better chance of surviving. The mere presence of other friendly players is often enough to dissuade attacks, particularly from solo players. If you're adventuring alone, you should be prepared to die much more often depending on class, skill level, and items.

Frequency of World PvP~top
The frequency with which world PvP (PvP combat outside of Battlegrounds and Arenas) occurs depends on several factors. In low-level contested zones (level 20 to 30ish zones), players are usually new to PvPing and will want to attack any enemy they see just to experience PvP and without any apparent reason. In higher-level zones, players may tend not to pick fights quite as often, partly because PvP fights will usually take longer since players have access to mounts and higher-level abilities. As a result, enemy players in these areas will often mind their own business and leave you alone. However, high-level contested areas can quickly erupt into hotbeds of PvP activity, particularly in zones with World PvP objectives such as Silithus, Eastern Plaguelands, and many of the zones in Outland. So don't get scared if you're getting killed too much in your first contested areas; it gets easier as you level up.

Stay at Full Health
In heavily contested territories, you should be much more careful about your hit points and mana. There is no telling when an enemy might surprise you, so it's much better to always stay high on hit points and mana. Eat, drink, or bandage after every kill. Just having low health in and of itself makes you a bigger target, as an enemy player that might ordinarily not attack you may try to see you as an easy mark. ~top

Questing
If you have to quest in enemy or heavily contested territory, try to do it during non-peak hours, such as late at night or early in the morning. You'll find it much easier than during primetime. In addition, pick quests that take place in the most out-of-the-way locations. Typically, these are the ones that are remote and longer to travel to. An example of a quest type that is very different in a PvP environment is an escort quest in a contested zone. These quests can be very difficult to complete because of enemy player interference. Do these escort quests in a group whenever possible. Questing in a group is generally a good idea overall.

Sometimes the Horde and the Alliance can both quest in the same areas without conflict. This happens when players from both sides would rather complete their quests and attack monsters than each other. If you attack the enemy player, it might start a prolonged war, which can slow down your experience or quest progress. There are other types of players that will always attack enemy players on sight. If you want to just quest in peace, you can try /wave or /hug on the enemy to show you won't attack them. ~top

Monitor the Channels
Pay attention to the General and LocalDefense chat channels. These channels can give you a heads up to enemy locations. If you want to help out, let people know in general or local defense if you spot the enemy. Whenever you're going to another area, check that chat window to see if it is under attack - that's a sure indication that there's enemy players in the area. If there is a high-level enemy killing many people in your region, rally defenders by using the LocalDefense channel and by using the /who command to check for other players in the zone. Get together with other players who are getting killed by the same enemy you are, group up with them, get yourselves organized, and hunt him down.

Stay off the Roads
If you want to avoid the enemy, stay off well-traveled roads. Take paths that players wouldn't normally take, or travel parallel to the road but out of view of it. This is especially important in enemy territory, where the roads are crawling with enemy players.

?Recovering Your Body
After being killed by a monster or particularly by an enemy player, you should prepare for the possibility that an enemy player will be waiting for you to revive at your corpse. After returning to your body as a ghost, don't immediately accept the resurrection. Scout the immediate area first and look for enemy players, who you will be able to see while in ghost form if you are close enough - with the exception of players in stealth. If you see the enemy, move as far away from them as possible, while the resurrect button remains active. If there are any buildings, trees, or other objects you can hide behind when resurrecting, you should take advantage of them. Buildings in particular are handy cover, as a wall will completely obscure you from sight. ~top

If you have a mount, hit the resurrect button, then jam the mount summon button as soon as possible (it's recommended that you place it as a hotkey on your action bar). If you're quick enough, you can be mounted and running before the enemy has spotted you.

Instances
The enemy cannot attack you while you are inside instances. However, they can attack you when you are outside the instance portal, and many players gravitate towards these high-traffic areas for what they perceive as easy kills. As a result, instances can be safe havens for leveling - but the area around the portals can be quite the opposite.

This Means War!
In the heated battles of PvP realms, it's easy to get fired up and take things a bit too personally at times. Always keep in mind that "it's just a game", and people should have fun on both sides. As long as you stay within the rules, you're OK. Be warned that constantly harassing and killing players over and over, attacking them when they are fighting monsters, and camping their corpses may hurt your reputation among the players on the realm. Opposing faction players may band together and hunt you down with extreme prejudice.

AFK
If you have to leave your keyboard, try to place your character in a hidden spot where players won't find you. Rogues and Druids can use Stealth and Night Elves can use Shadowmeld to hide.

>>2.General Tips- Overall PvP tips to consider. ~top

* Make sure PvP flag is toggled on by typing /PVP. Its very frustrating to endure and survive a difficult fight with another player and then not get credit for it. Note that you can be flagged as a PvP target without having toggled on PvP at times (like during the 5 minute cool down after turning PvP off) so always, before fighting, make sure PvP is toggled on. Of course, this is a non-issue on PvP servers as PvP is always flagged on in contested areas. ~top

* Understand that contribution points are what determine honor and rank not honorable kills. You get contribution points towards each kill based on the percentage of the damage you caused the enemy player. You can also earn contribution points for healing other players engaged in PvP and for a few other non-combat actions as well. You must hit or debuff an enemy or heal or buff a friendly to get any points. Thus, there are generally two approaches: 1. Focus on one enemy and dont give up until they (or you) are dead or 2. Hit every enemy at least once and use as much area of effect spells/items as possible. Here at the Azerothian Intelligence Agency we are big fans of the latter strategy, preferring area of effect spells and mass damage to the enemy crowds over focusing on one specific enemy unless we are just finishing someone off. Experiment and decide which works best for you based on the results. Keep in mind that the results were talking about are contribution points not honorable kills. ~top

* No kill = no points dont bother starting something you dont intend to finish. That is, if youre going to fight another player do everything in your power to make sure they get killed before they can run and heal. If they get away and heal up, no contribution points for you. That epic mount sure looks good now doesnt it?

Tactical Tips- General tactics advice that may differ from your standard approach to battling mobs.

* There is no need to pull enemies in the traditional sense. If an enemy player thinks they can take you out they will generally come to you. However, be aware that often times long distance ranged duels break out until the actual melee begins. Instead of pulling you often see the tactic of baiting during PvP raids. This is the tactic whereby a player (usually lower level than the attackers) approaches the enemys front line, gets hit a bit, and runs back to their own crowd hopefully pulling a couple of enemies into this crowd with them and getting mobbed. The best advice we can give if you want to bait is to have some form of invulnerability available. Go in, do a bit of damage, turn on your invulnerability and run back to your team. Alternatively, dont be tempted to your death with what looks like an easy kill. ~top

* Often, large scale PvP raids usually have mobs of players on each team standing apart in (at least two) separate crowds. Avoid standing directly with this crowd (so you dont get damaged by area of effect spells) but at the same time dont get too separated so that you become a tempting target for a roaming group of the enemy.

* Shake a leg! Move around! Dont stand in one place for too long when battling. By moving around you make it harder for other players to hit you with melee weapons. We know it seems obvious but weve observed more players standing toe-to-toe for battles then we care to remember. You can even try moving around to areas hard to reach for the enemy or perhaps into a friendly village whatever, just dont stand there. ~top

* Call in reinforcements early- If you find yourself about to enter a difficult battle, yell out your approximate location and whats happening. Usually at least one other allied player will respond if you send out the message early enough and if you are descriptive. Again, its important to be as informative as possible when asking for help. At a minimum state the enemy level and your location.

Inventory Advice- You might want to consider switching your inventory around to focus on some of these more PvP friendly items.

Invulnerability potions- very useful for escaping an otherwise dangerous situation.

Swiftness potions- A must have for any PvP player worth their salt. Swiftness potions grant a temporary speed boost that is incredibly effective in escaping (and catching) enemy players. Note that these are treated as potions and, as such, will activate the potion cool down timer. This means that you can not use both a swiftness and a healing potion concurrently. That said, if I find myself in a situation where I need to make a hasty retreat I would much rather have a speed boost than a health boost. ~top

Free action potions- A potion that makes you immune to stun and movement impairment for 30 seconds. As this is another item that activates the potion cool down timer a decision is usually made as to whether to use potions of free action or swiftness. We suggest that if you anticipate a long battle and you are carrying both potions you use free action on the way INTO battle and swiftness on the way OUT. ~top

Mana potions- It would seem obvious to most casters that they should be carrying mana potions anyway but in PvP it is even more essential as the times to rest during a battle are extremely limited. Considering that battles can rage on during raids for a very long time its always a good idea to carry a few very powerful mana potions.

Elixirs- Elixirs are potions that offer buffs much in the same way that a spell or scroll would with one key difference: elixirs can not be dispelled. Along these lines its always good to have an alchemist as a friend. ~top

Temporary weapon buffs- If you are not a rogue using poisons you usually would not have a temporary weapon buff. Generally speaking, sharpening stones and weight stones are available relatively cheaply from the auction house on most servers or can be bought/traded from a blacksmith. There are several levels of stones, each offering a 30 minute damage buff to your weapon. As PvP is often a race to see who does the most damage the fastest these can be quite a help.

Retribution items- Any items that you can use to cause damage or debuffs when an enemy hits you are helpful. While most of these items generate modest damage, they will at least show up as a tap against an enemy player and thus, give you some contribution points if that player should die. The key thing to consider here is that now you get points for both hitting things and being hit. A good example of this type of item is the Gift of Arthas potion which gives you both shadow protection and a chance to disease attackers. ~top

Sneaky stuff- Here we list some of the more subversive PvP tricks. We make no claim as to whether these tricks are fair or honorable, instead we share them for your information and you decide if you wish to use these tactics.

* AFK surprise- stand near an area populated by enemies with PvP flagged and type /AFK. Most people understand that if you see over another players head they are usually away from their computer temporarily. Enemies often use this as an opportunity to attack if you as they think you will be an easy kill. A good strategy is to draw someone in when they see AFK and start wailing on them as soon as they are close enough. They usually dont expect it and have not called in reinforcements ahead of time.

* Roof camping- some towns and locations have very hard to reach areas whereby crafty players have devised a way to hop onto the roof of a structure and attack other players with ranged attacks. As the other player often does not know how to reach these areas the attacker gets an easy kill while the victim spins around trying to find them. The most popular areas for this type of activity are Booty Bay and Gadgetzan. Roof camping is generally unpopular with Blizzard so expect to see a fix to this in the near future.

* Civilian camouflage- If your town is being overrun during a raid but you want to stay and defend anyway, turn on your PvP flag and stand next to NPCs marked as civilians. While this may not prevent you from dying it will usually cause the attackers to avoid you as they wont want to kill the civilians and incur a dishonorable kill. Another variation of this is to stand next to the griffon/bat handler (provided the town has one) and make your stand there in the hopes that an enemy will attack the handler by accident. Attacking a griffon or bat handler spawns two level 55 beasts and also attracts the agro of the handler themselves. After the handler begins his counter attack, focus your attacks on whoever he is after. In the chaos you will hopefully get a few kills before the rest of the enemy raid group takes you out. Conversely, if you are raiding an enemy town, dont be that noob that agros the civilians or griffon/bat handlers.

>>3.Warrior PvP Basics ~top

The main strategy for warrior PvP in World of Warcraft is controlling the movement of the enemy as much as possible. The hamstring ability is effective against casters and hunters to slow their movement and take away their advantage. Warlocks and Priests, who can use fear to cause the warrior to run away thus making him vulnerable and removing him from the fight. A warrior can change his stance to the berserker stance and gainimmunity to fear effects for a short time

In those rare times when a player faces a line of enemies coming towards him, he should not forget about his own ares of effect fear ability, intimidating shout. Intimidating shout may not be as effective or as long lasting as the single target spells of the priest or warlocks, but it can get the enemy running for a few seconds, buying the warrior's PvP team valuable time to cast their own offensive spells without fear of retaliation.
